Russian Visa Updates During the COVID-19 Pandemic
By Kennedee Keys, on February 19, 2021
If you have been trying to travel to Russia during COVID-19, you may not have had the best of luck.
Due to the global COVID-19 health pandemic, the Russian Embassy has stopped all visa services for the time being. According to the Russian Embassy, “they have temporarily suspended the issuance of all categories of visa with the exception of diplomatic, official, common business visas for international drivers, crew of aircraft, river and sea-going vessels, international train and locomotive crew, and common private visas for foreign citizens or stateless persons to enter Russia in connection with the death of a close relative.” They have not stated when they will resume visa services. Unfortunately, due to this, APVI is unable to process any Russia visas until further notice.
For those who do have a valid visa, all Russian borders have been closed since March 30, 2020. We do not have information regarding when the borders will reopen, so plan Russia travels accordingly.
To follow the updates, please follow the Russia Embassy Twitter account @RusEmbUSA.
